WA: Asylum seeker locked in cupboard on foreign ship

PERTH, Feb 20 AAP - An Iraqi asylum seeker was locked away in a phone-box-sized cupboardfor at least a month on a foreign ship travelling between Australian ports, accordingto a federal MP.
Labor backbencher Carmen Lawrence helped organise the removal from the ship of 27-year-oldMehdi Al-Fartousi, now in the Perth Detention Centre.
Dr Lawrence said Mr Al-Fartousi stowed away on the ship, the Baltimar Euros, whichhad been docked in a port in the Middle East in late November last year.
