NTL's #3.5bn merger with cable rival Telewest has been approved by the Office of Fair Trading, which stated the deal had not failed the test for referring it to the Competition Commission. BSkyB's acquisition of internet specialist Easynet has also been approved by the OFT. The #211m deal signals the group's intention to broadcast some of its content via the Web.
